Jodi's mother, an art teacher with French-Turkish roots, entered into a fictitious marriage before her birth. The student needed to obtain citizenship, and she became the wife of the artist-designer Malcolm McLaren, paying him 50 pounds. They were registered in Lewisham in 1972. Later, the grandmother of the" husband " paid 2,000 pounds for the newlyweds to divorce. Jodie was born out of wedlock. So May didn't know her father. The daughter was only told that he was from Germany.

May was educated at Camden Girls ' School. Her film debut took place at the age of 12 – it was the drama "The Divided World" in 1988. The role of Molly brought Jody the Cannes Film Festival Award. Since then, the debutante has combined her studies at Wadham College in Oxford with work in films and TV series.

Young Jody starred with director Michael Mann in the film adaptation of Cooper's novel "The Last of the Mohicans". The role of Alice allowed her to work together with the future three-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis. In the TV movie "Another of the Boleyn family", May portrayed Anne, the second wife of Henry the Eighth, sent to the block.

In 2002, the British actress wrote the script for the short film "Peephole" and shot it herself. In August 2005, Jody participated in the play of the famous German director Peter Stein "The Blackbird". The premiere took place at the Edinburgh Festival. "Moving" to London, the production won the award for best new play. Jodi continued to work in the theater and on television. "The Witcher": The Lioness of Cintra

Jodie was happy to join the cast of The Witcher series. She was entrusted with the role of the queen of Calanthe, the ruler of Cintra and the grandmother of the main character, Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan). The Queen is considered a fair and brave monarch.

The heroine May fights on the battlefields next to ordinary soldiers, loves hunting and other male fun. And, when it comes to relatives, the queen becomes a real "lioness", for which she received her nickname. In the first season of the Netflix series, Calanthe died, and if Jody returns, it will be in the flashbacks of The Witcher.
